Dunnottar Castle.

Gotta love the free internet at the local library in Cults!! Altho we can't fit our card reader into the USB port, so photos will come later.

This morning we set off for Dunnottar Castle. The brochure we had made it look amazing. Right on the edge of a huge cliff, overlooking the North Sea. I had my doubts that it would be a sight to see... I was proven sooooooo wrong. This castle was built in the 17th century, and what we saw today was the ruins of the castle. You can climb thru all the ruins and up the stairs & the views overlooking the North Sea were amazing. I think this one is hard to put into words b/c it was just so beautiful. So you'll have to wait for pictures, of which there are a million. (J takes the pictures, I delete 1/2 of them. It works well this way.) We did manage to fill up our first 1gig photo card, so we'll have to take less or we'll run out!

Also, as a heads up, in Scotland, donuts are known as dough rings, long johns are known as yum-yums, and jelly donuts are known as jam doughnuts. And coca cola is very expensive. But it made for a great breakfast today! I got to have my first driving experience. On the A90, a 4 lane highway with a speed limit of 70mph. Yes, mph, not kph. I think I did well. J only peed his pants once. :) It was interesting how my right hand fought for control of the wheel & kept pushing me to the left. But we made it back to the Cults Hotel just fine.

Now we're off in search of ice cream, or beer, not sure which yet. And then another wonderful dinner with Katherine, Graham, and Grandma Bailey! Hopefully we'll be able to post some pics then, b/c you will not believe the castle we saw. And again, seriously, Scotland looks just like it does in movies. Green, amazing, hilly, and a great coast.

Cheers!
