Along the way, we stopped at Warwick Castle. Turns out, this was a giant tourist attraction. The cost was £20 per person ($40), so we decided to skip it. But were able to snap a few pics...
Yesterday night we stayed at the Ivydene B&B in Southport. They had a great breakfast!
On the way out of Southport, we visited the Botanic Gardens. More of a Botanic Park, really. So we had a nice walk before getting in the car for our journey today.
Justin was amazed by the tunnels at the gardens...
And this is me imitating what J looked like in a camera picture just before this one was taken...
More of the Botanic Gardens...
They had an aviary in the gardens! Very nice, they had pheasants and peacocks! This is a dove.
They also had turkeys, which we found amusing...
The gardens also had a museum. It was a historical overview of Southport. Pretty nice!
Then we were on the road to Carlisle. The drive was... words can't describe it. We drove thru the Lakelands. Which are gorgeous. If they're not mountains, they sure are close to it.
We stopped and took a walk near one of the beautiful lakes.
And found Castlerigg Stone Circle. Yet another stone circle! And surrounded by sheep & their poo. This stone circle was created by the locals in 2500 - 1300 BC. The rocks are also local.
J got to "rock climb" on one of the rocks...
So now we are in Carlisle. We're getting pizza for dinner... mmm... tomorrow we head off to Glasgow for a night. We wanted to go to the Pencil Museum, but it's too far out of our way... So instead we'll start with Carlisle Castle & Cathedral!
CHEERS!!!
