Our feet are done with London...

Today we walked. And walked. And walked... we started about 9:30am this morning and just sat down now, at 4:30pm, for the first time. J & I were practically limping our way here. For anyone who knows London, we walked from our hotel, which is near Hyde Park, to the London Eye. Decided not to pay £15 (per person) for the London Eye, which after the view from Primrose Hill yesterday didn't seem so important.
This was the horse guard at the far end of Hyde Park. We've seen them both times we walked here in the morning, they are rehearsing for something later this month.
This is, obviously, Buckingham Palace, which we walked by on our way to the London Eye.
And here's where we decided $30 per person was a bit much for a giant ferris wheel...
One of the many performance artists near the London Eye, trying to scrape a living up.
So we went back to the National Gallery, which is free. We saw works from some very famous painters... Van Gogh, Monet, Manet, Renoir, Picasso, DaVinci and Degas. It was quite a grand time!
This is the Nat'l Gallery.
This is Trafalgar Square, we're on the steps of the Nat'l Gallery.
A close up of the lion in Trafalgar Square.
We then decided to stick with our free fun and walked to the V&A Museum. The Victoria & Albert Museum. Before we went in, we got lunch at the Thai Square, so we did get to sit down for about 30 minutes... At the museum we got to see an amazing collection of casts of Italian, Spanish & Roman artifacts. And the collection was amazing. They were full size! The Italian columns must have been 2 stories high! We walked down a hallway that had drawings from the original Beatrix Potter books & Winnie the Pooh! We also walked thru the modern section, which was mostly random household stuff thru the 20th century. As you can guess, it was rather odd, but neat too!

We then walked back to our hotel area thru Hyde Park, and now we're sitting in our favorite internet cafe. Our estimate is that we walked about 7 1/2 miles today. I think we deserve a good dinner tonight! Our goal for tonight is to find a good pub for ale and fish & chips, as this is our last night in London. We're hoping someone at our hotel can point us in the right direction! If we can walk that far anyway! Tomorrow we take the train back out to Surrey to stay with Justin's Aunt Gill for a few days!

Cheers!
